I am going to polish my bar (Stainless Steel). I have been using it for a few years and had a look at it with a magnifying glass today, it has some wear marks on it. My question is has anyone done this before and if so what grade of compound did you start and finish with.

I use Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish. It will take out minute scratches and polish the metal so slick you can hardly hang on to it. I have never used a rubbing compound on my bars. Give it a try.

You may want to use a hard cloth polishing wheel (mounted on the grinding wheel motor at 3450 rpm) with tripoli to start and rouge to finish.
