The San Antonio Steel Guitar Association will have the next jam session on May 3rd, 2015 at the William Randolph American Legion Post 593 from 2 pm until 5 pm. Our featured performer will be William Harrison. The address is 326 W. Legion, Converse, Texas and the admission is free. We ask all steel guitar players, lap and non-pedal steel players to attend no matter what your skill level may be. Please be setup, tuned up and ready to play at 2 pm. The American Legion will have tasty snack food available and the canteen will be open for your favorite beverage. We will have a 4 SALE OR TRADE table available. Our band will be on board to backup all musicians. I want to thank all of the players and our band and our featured performers for donating their time and travel at their own expense to help make these jam sessions a success. William Harrison (harrisonpedalsteel.com) first started playing musical instruments when he was 12 years old. In addition to his skill playing the pedal steel guitar, he is an accomplished drummer and trombone player.

William’s interest in the pedal steel guitar began several years ago while attending an Asleep At The Wheel concert where he heard a steel guitar for the first time. Captivated by the sound, it became William’s driving musical passion. Shortly after that concert, William visited the music scene in Nashville and his passion for playing the pedal steel guitar grew even stronger. During that trip, he had the opportunity to see Vince Gill and The Time Jumpers. After the performance, he had the chance to visit with the steel guitar master, Paul Franklin. The visit with Paul was further inspiration for William and the following day he was in Bobbe Seymour’s Steel Guitar Nashville shop purchasing his first pedal steel guitar.

Since that time, William has been honing his skill playing with various bands and recording with local artists in Austin, Texas where he currently resides. After a small performance at the Texas Steel Guitar Jamboree in Dallas this past March, he was invited to be the feature performer at the San Antonio Steel Guitar Association in May (that’s US).

William will be relocating to Nashville to further his career. He intends to play with some of the high caliber local musicians and perhaps begin touring. Look for him playing in that area this summer.

Looking forward to working with Harrison. I heard him picking in the vendor rooms and I think he is a very good player. Also looking forward to playing with everyone after we skipped April! Til then.....as the Mills Brothers would say!

Looking forward to seeing my friends again... I just put new strings on the T8, and it sounds fantastic! I'll have to drag it with the truck, of course, no Harley ride for me.

Any steel players with nothing to do are more than welcome to come to the San Antonio Steel Guitar Assoc. jam session this afternoon starting at 2 pm and finishing around 5 pm. We had a capacity crowd at the May 3rd San Antonio Steel Guitar jam, held at the American Legion, Post 593 in Converse. Our featured player was William Harrison (pictured), who did a great job all 'round. Thanks to everyone who attended, as well as the backup band. Thanks also to Jerry King, who sang a few songs. Boy, what a wonderful Sunday.
