What is this "counterforce" thing on my LG III and does it work?

It counters cabinet drop John and yes, they do work well when adjusted correctly. Once it's adjusted, it should stay that way for a long time. The only con I've seen with it is when you try to change pickups. The mount plate is different (thicker) than a typical LeGrande plate and sometimes creates problems mounting non-Emmons pickups on it. |

Thanks Dave. Since I posted this I went and looked for cabinet drop and it doesn't seem to have any when using A & B pedals.
I guess it's working.

As Dave said, they do work and work very well. You can actually adjust it to make and unpedaled string go sharp, not that you would want to. It is a lever system that puts opposite pressure against the changer axle when pedals are pushed. The only other complaint I've ever heard about them is it changes pedal feel, maybe a little stiffer. I had one for several years and never noticed it but guy I sold it to did and disconnected the system. _________________ Henry Matthews
