I just got a Lawrence 705 pickup and have a question about wiring it straight to the jack on my guitar, no vol .or tone controls or coil splitting options.
It's a four conductor model where the wires are white, black, red and green + bare shield.
Does anyone using the same pickup know which color wires could be wired together and soldered to the jack? I'm asking because I don't have a voltmeter or anything to check the cables.

Hi Niklas, the white and green go together. Put a piece of
heat shrink tubing or tape on them. Then tie the black and
the shield together and they will go to the ground on the
jack and the red will go to hot on the jack.

If you like the single coil sound (on occasion), rig a switch to tie Red Green to ground. Ground the RG pair and you have a fairly bright, but quite twangy/bitey single coil. THAT is why they let you have access to all four wires.

And for yet another tone you can put the coils in parallel. It gives you a sound in between the humbucker and single coil but yet you still have the humbucking properties. There are special 3PDT switches that are made for that purpose. They have three positions. I use them on a couple of my six strings and find I use the parallel a lot.
