Well, I'm FINALLY getting my NEW ZumSteel Encore, this week or next week?
I sent my cashiers check, in full...on Saturday, to Branson!!
I sure hope & pray, it makes it here in perfect condition!!

Anyway, I will be buying a Peterson StroboPlus HD tuner. I had a StroboFlip....& I loved it!! But, they don't make em anymore. And the ones you find for sale used, are even more expensive than a new StroboPlus. Any feedback & info would be appreciated, on the StroboPlus HD tuner. Does it have the same preset "Jeff Newman" sweetened tuning built in....like the StroboFlip had? That really made tuning fast & easy!!
I will also need the leg mount, for the StroboPlus. Who has the best prices on the StoboPlus & the bracket accessory? Amazon & Musicians Friend, are selling the tuner for $118. Not too bad. But they want $20 or $25, for the leg bracket.
Buying used is not out of the question!

I will also need, a Goodrich L-120 volume pedal. I'm 6' with long legs...& need a low profile pedal. Any feedback, information, etc...would be greatly appreciated!!

Buying new most likely...but for the right price I would consider buying used, providing they are in great condition.

Thanks very much!

Next will be a Nashville 112 amp.

David,

The volume pedal that Doug sells has the same profile as the Goodrich L-120. I have both pedals, swap them back and forth, and can't tell a difference. And Doug's pedal has a couple of advantages: 1. no string, and 2: a jack to plug in a tuner

You're gonna love that Encore, I'm sure enjoying mine! What color is yours?

Tommy,

Wow...thanks for the info. on Doug's volume pedal. I kinda forgot he sells them. I know I asked for info. on his pedals, but never received any.

Maybe, I will buy one...but my guitar is going out in the morning. You mentioned it has no string. Is it a light beam type pedal? Does it have a pot in it?

I'm very interested. Can you either post, or email me the following info? I'd really appreciate it!
Do you have any photos of it?
What is the price?

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your Encore. That seems to be the overall opinion, from the posts I've read.

Mine will be a 2-Tone. Red front & back...& a black top. I'm getting the pad, & a Bill Lawrence XR-16 pickup with it.

Can't wait for it to arrive!! I hope it makes the journey to my home, without any incidents!!

Here's a pic, of what it will look like:

Thanks again...& I'm looking forward to the info. on the ZumSteel Volume Pedal, when you get a chance.

I don't have any pictures of the pedal right now, I'll post some if I get a chance. It uses a gear and lever system instead of a string to turn the pot, very smooth and quiet. I hope Doug is still making them, maybe he's too busy building fine guitars?

That's my guitar in the picture by the way, it's a keeper!

Try this David,

I have one and it works very well with my Encore. I added a tone pot just to give me a bit more control.

I've had my Encore for two years now, great guitar at a great price. As Tommy says, a keeper!

Tommy,

So, this picture is what I've been looking at, ever since I discovered & decided, to buy an Encore?!! Small world, indeed! I fell in love with this 2-tone idea...at first sight!!
Was this your idea for the two colors? I think it looks awesome!! A keeper for sure!!

I'm going to inquire about Dougs pedal, later this evening.

Thanks Michael,

It looks like a decent pedal to me. Thanks for posting the link!

It's really cool....& thoughtful of Doug, to be building quality Pedal Steel Guitars, for those of us on a budget!! And now this volume pedal. Very nice indeed!!

Btw, what is a tone pot?

Doug is right on the money, with his statement about volume pedals becoming TOO expensive!! I know the Telonics pedal...& it's probably the best you can buy.....BUT not all of us have $500 or so, for a volume pedal. They're made in the same town as where I'm at right now!

The 2-tone was Doug's idea. He made the suggestion and sent me pictures of a Stage One he had built that way. I liked what I saw.

A "tone control" would probably be a better description. I use one amp setting for PSG, Mandolin and Telecaster. With the tone control, I can tweak the Encore's tone without affecting the other instruments.

The difference between "wants" and "needs" are sometimes significant. While you may want an expensive pedal, amp, or steel guitar, you certainly don't need one!

If you're making hundreds of thousands of dollars, then you can succumb to all those frivilous "wants".

Winking

You are EXACTLY CORRECT!!
And as far as money issues...I see more people struggling, like never before. Including myself. Sad

Ready for his third term?? Rolling Eyes
