This might sound like a dumb question, but does anyone know the proper, or correct way, to store a Carter Starter in the hard shell case? I put it in with the tuners on top, to the right of the case, and in the back of the case so the bag with the legs would be towards the front. The problem I am having, however, is that two of the knee levers, when folded in towards the strings, do not fold all the way in, so that they extend a little past the case, or below the case, so that, when stored, causes the guitar body to actually rest on these levers. Is there a way to fold in these levers so that when laying on the frame, it rests solely on the frame, and not on the knee levers?

tony, usually steels are put in the case upside down (strings down) with the tuning pegs on the left end. case top opens away from you. try that.

this also makes it easier to take legs on and off with the body lying in the case.

oops sorry.... the tuners go on the right end. so the pedal rack and pedal rods are farthest away from you.

I've always set my steel in the case by
1 standing in front of the steel, leaning it toward me a bit
2 reaching over grabbing one hand on a back leg and one hand on the opposite front leg
3 lift and flip the steel over so it's upside down
4 lay into the open case from the handle, lock side.
5 remove pedal rods, then rack, then, all the legs and store in case, in a bag preferably.
To set up, just reverse the procedure.
Winnie Winston's book had a pictorial about the procedure. Very helpful for newcomers.
