Microsoft and Adobe released important and critical patches between Patch Tuesday, March 11, and today, March 12, 2015. However, one of the MS patches (KB3033929) is causing conniptions for some Windows 7 users, sending their hapless computers into an endless reboot loop. Word has it that the bad patch may be pulled and reissued after the patch has been patched.

If your Windows 7 computer goes into an endless loop trying to install and configure that patch, boot into safe mode , go to Start > Control Panel > click on Programs and Features > View installed updates > look for KB3033929 (which will be listed as "pending") > right-click on it and left-click on the “Hide this update” option. This will stop Windows from trying to update the affected files. Then wait a few days for MS to re-release a patched patch for KB3033929. It is not even a critical patch, just important.

The Adobe patch is for Flash Player, which brings it up to version 17.0.0.134. You can check which version you have installed by visiting the About Flash Player page. If, like me, you use other browsers than Internet Explorer, you will need to download a different version of Flash for IE and your other browsers. The best way to do this is simply go to the Flash Player Download page with each browser and install the version made for them.

Note, Chrome browsers have Flash embedded into their architecture and the entire browser must be updated to get the new version of Flash.
