This is a picture of the arm rest for a S-10 Carter, I went to Lowes and purchased the 5/16-18 x 1 3/4 knobs.
These were made by Hillman called fluted knobs. 1 1/2 should work also but this is what they had available. Payed $3.49 each.

I have a few questions. Does the knob have the threaded screw already attached? What would the length of the screw need to be? I'm assuming the knob itself would have to draw up tight to the aluminum block to hold it, or is there some sort of shoulder on the bolt that draws it up tight. Thanks, Tommy......

Tommy, the knob has a 5/16-18 threaded piece, mine was 1 3/4 long from Lowes. The clamp works just like it always did with the shoulder of the knob against the outside of the clamp.

Larry: Okay, good. That's what I was thinking, but I brought up a picture on the Hillman products site, and it did not show any screw connected to the knob. I'm going to try it for sure. It's got to be better than messing with an allen wrench. Thanks, Tommy.....

Larry, that's perfect. I've been looking for a way to get the arm rest off and on faster. The guys I play with plug their guitars in and they're ready to go. Anything that saves me on setup time is a big plus.

Why do you guys need an armrest?

Great idea! We don`t have a Lows here in Eastern Canada. I hope Home Depot caries them.

That looks just like the ones I just bought online to experiment with. So far I've only sent one pair with the armrest I just shipped to New Mexico. Haven't heard how they are working out. They don't have to be real tight. I know the socket head bolts are much stronger, but that shouldn't be necessary.

I have a set of those that hold my GFI pedal bar on. I like them.

I had been looking for a way to get the arm rest on and off quickly. I got a couple of these per Larry's suggestion and I like them a lot. We have so much to set up that anything that saves time means a lot and these work great.

S12 to SD12 Just needs a pad and it`s done.

I'm with you,JB! Just for the heck of it, I tried laying a shim on the narrow ledge of one of my S-10s to see if I would like something under my wrist, while playing,and it really bothered me. I guess it's one of those things that some like, and some don't.And lets not forget that it's adding weight, to an already heavy instrument! And that arm rest that was located on the end?? Is that for between songs? -Jake-
