I want to try the Eminence in my NV112 but the OEM gasket on the speaker is pretty thick--so much that the existing studs are too short. I've tried putting some extra pressure at each stud without success. I read Tommy's post and double-checked to be sure the old gasket wasn't stuck to the board so that's not the problem.
Now I'm wondering if those gaskets are removable/replaceable with a different thickness, etc..
Suggestions are appreciated. _________________ RETIRED

Hello Marty;
We have had to " trim the gasket thickness down " to get them to fit in the nashville 112 amps.
That is 1 way - the other 2 ways are replace the gasket with a thinner gasket or put longer studs in - your choice.
We have had or heard of no problems by trimming the gasket down - it's up to you.
My best to you.

Marty, I just installed the EPC-12c speaker in my amp yesterday(Sunday). I had the same problem. I first removed the gasket on the back (lock nut) side of the speaker . I then took my pocket knife and pushed it thru the thick front gasket and went around the speaker removing about half of the thickness. This then let the speaker set down to where the nuts would go back on. I also installed the MOD reverb tank as Tommy White did. Both changes is like jacking up the name plate and putting a totally different amp in it's place. It now sounds FANTASTIC !! Peavey should make them like this !! Good luck and post your results please. |

I put a Telonics in my 112, don't know if it is the same gasket on the EPS or not, but it was a very tight fit.
Being very cowardly about trimming the gasket, or getting anything at all sharp near a loudspeaker, I started with one stud at a time. Pressing down firmly on the speaker basket to compress the gasket I was able to get about one thread or maybe two of the nut started. Then moved halfway around the speaker and did another in the same way. Finished up in a star pattern until all the nuts were started and then tightened them all. It worked fine. |
