Hey Ricky,

Just wanted to post a quick note to say hey! I was at the Continental Club last weekend and wanted to say I really enjoyed your playing. I was the obnoxious guy standing in front of you the whole show watching your every move (my girlfriend kept telling me to quit bugging you, hopefully I wasn’t). I’ve never had the pleasure to see or hear you play, so I just wanted to say “Great Job”, I really enjoyed your stuff!!

I meant to find ya to formally introduce myself after your show, but ended up talking with some new friends, and then the Mavericks came on, so I completely missed my chance.

Anyhow, thanks again, and I hope to meet you next year when we come back again for the Austin City Limits Festival.

Regards

Hey Jay; cool man.
Yes it was like a sardine can in there that night...and hard to get around.
Thanks for the nice words...as that was D.B. Harris I was playing for....and that was his more "Rockin'" Set...as there wasn't very much classic stuff as he can and usually does....so the steel was more of a accompaniment with a few solos here and there...yee haaa.
But D.B. and I have a group called "The Island Echoes"..and we play classic Hawaiian music also(wish you could'a heard that..ha)...and next time your down...come out to see/hear me and Redd Volkaert play music together...>as that will be a nice treat for ya..>
Thanks.
Ricky

I'd love to hear that band, I was really hoping you'd break out the lap steel, so that sounds perfect.

I'll get a hold of you next year before we come down and see if your playing.

Take care
Jay

Watching Ricky and Redd play at the Continental Club was one hell of a blast when I was in Austin. Those two left my jaw on the floor! And you won't ever meet two nicer people in your life. I can't wait to get back again.

Haven't seen RD in person yet, but have listened to him on the Linda Lay CD and it's super. Next time I get home to Texarkana, thinking about heading down to Austin to see if I can catch him playing somewhere!
