I changed my strings on my Carter DB10 and now I am having problems with the B pedal and the G lever. I had this problem the first time I ever changed the strings on this instrument about 7 years ago. It was still under warranty so I called Carter guitars and Bud Carter himself talked me through it. I can't remember what it was I had to do, but I know it was a very simple thing.

With both pedals there is some play before it connects with the string, in other words there is slack. The B pedal is dropping the semi tone as it should. However the G lever ( Dropping the G sharp down to F sharp) is slack + it will only go down to F, so a semi tone rather than the full tone. Can anyone advise please???

Thank you.

Nick, it's real hard to trouble shoot by email, but the first thing I would do is make sure you are using the proper string type and gauge.

Usually the 6th string is a plain string so it will lower the full tone. If the new strings have a wound 6th string that could be the problem.

You guys were right. I had put a wound string on. I have changed it now for a non wound string and the problem is gone. You guys are just the best!

Thank you
