Tommy not only has the chops, he's got all the correct notes and the most soulful ways of saying them. And he makes it look so freakin' effortless??! WTF is up with THAT??

At one ISGC I recall, back in the early 90's I think, Tommy was onstage and I was standing on stage left with Bobby Garrett, just listening. Tommy was blocked from our view by the speaker tower, but he was blazing on "My Window Faces the South" or some tune like that. He took one particular chorus and Garrett turned to me and said "tell me I didn't hear what I just heard."

I thought it very cool moment in time.

I think Tommy has the best tone of anyone these days. Makes my head spin.

Tommy is amazing..... Not just as a steel player, but as a musician.... Music runs so deep in his soul, and he has the gift to bring it to the instrument. The most soulful player I know.

Now I know why Wanda Jackson never cared to much for my steel playin'. If I didn't love to play so much, I'd set fire to my old Emmons, after watchin' Tommy play. WOW!!!!

Was able to spend time on BroadWay with him and Vince Moreno recently.

And, I saw Tommy, I think, in 1993 or 97 in St. Louis. Was blown away back then.

Yes! I agree George! What an awesome player, especially on the Emmons with it's great tone and sustain. The Mullen tone sounds somewhat thin.

Yup, that is so outstanding it would make me just want to retire. Heck I did retire, I must have known I would never get to play like that. Wanda Vick is certainly no slouch as a musician either. I met her when I was playing a TV show in Birmingham, and she is not only a great musician but a very sweet person.

Hey Tommy White. You should be voted Steel Guitarist of the year by the Academy Of Country Music 2015 in Dallas,Texas in April. Take a break Paul and tell them power heads you know your # 1 a status. It would be great if they would put a check with that status. I am proud to know you Tommy,Uncle Leo J Eiffert Jr. the " Icon Super Star " of the History of The Academy Of Country Music -ACM & it's Museum, where?

Tommy, the solo you played with the harmonica player was just sensational. How long does it take to work out something like that? And do you then forget it and move on to something else or can you still play it? I'll bet you can still do it.

I watched a few more. The LeGrande III was the best sound. Some of those She Buds were good too. He played a Sierra also. And how about that Rwanda Vick? She was killer. Sorry about the auto correct...Rwanda Vick. That's just wrong.

Tommy your steel guitar falling apart on you is worse than breaking a string.

Really enjoyed those clips Charley... thanks for posting them! Tommy has been an amazing player for a long time and it's always inspirational for me to hear him play. Thank you Tommy for sharing your talent with the world and keeping the standards high. Best to you my friend!

On those shows, there was only one run thru before a dinner break, which was really only enough time to tuck a shirt in. Everything you hear the entire band play is spontaneous and off the cuff.

I never had or owned a
Legrande 111 during that era. However, I did receive a Legrande 3 later. One of the worst sounding and playing guitars I ever sat down to. Absolutely no sustain and made me feel as if I had to play the guitar as it wanted to be played. The counterforce acted as a catalyst to raise all strings when a raising pedal was pushed. I couldn't make it work for me. My Mullen G2 sacks every guitar I've ever played.

Well, Tommy White. That solo was off the cuff!?!?!. Wow. Now it's even better. You sure do have one very large bag of licks. I'd say you'd have more licks than my dog at dinner time.

Wow, I had never seen any of those video's before and had somehow missed all those old shows.

Around 23 years ago,I remember my old friend Ted Solesky and I talking about steel players who were just unbelievably good. He said keep your eye on Tommy White over the next few years as he is a monster player and everyone will be talking about him.

BTW- Tommy,when you were describing steel guitar to the woman in the audience and they asked if you had to use the pedals,your little chuckle about no, but it sure sounds better if you do really got me to laughing.
