Now that the adventure has begun in ernest Ive started transcribing some of Chris
Scruggs non pedal arrangements note for note ,(or as close as I can get) and I got to say what an amazing player you are Chris! The perfect intonation, all the tricks and bits, creative solos, the Speedy West stuff, the behind the bar bends, and all the rest. It will be a Steep learning curve and Many Many moons before maybe someday playing at this level but what a great player to emulate.!Thanks for the inspiration Chris, and more you tube videos please!

i don't see how Chris keeps up his chops on steel guitar to the level he does. i don't think he plays steel very much at all, outside an occasional sit in gig. mostly he plays just about everything else when on the road. i was listening to Prairie Home Companion on NPR a few weeks ago and he was playing bass with Robbie Fulks...i know a guy has to make a living but its a dang shame he can't play steel full time with someone. of course, he has his own act too, with guitar & singing.

i was lucky to see him live at the Southern Steel Guitar Symposium about 2 years ago - he was on it that night.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Chris play steel several times in Nashville. He always seems to be "on."
Flawless execution, exacting pitch and always just spot on! One of my favorite players...

I'm always happy when he makes one of his frequent appearances on the Marty Stuart show. He always brings a lot to the table, and I really dig his classic country stylings.

There is a nice group of videos on the 'tube showcasing Chris at a small club in a live trio setting. Fine playing there...
