It sure was interesting. Peavey didn't look like a world leader in the music industry. Streamlining businesses to keep them competitive and successful is a reality in the business world however, you couldn't help feel sorry for the workers at that plant. Also, what can you say about the lack of worker motivation, lack of benefits,cheap labor, etc and the cheap products, inefficient test procedures , poor leadership, lack of communication, lack of planning, lack of direction . To me the flip-flop at the end was the bomb.

Worker care, compassion and innovation must be in Peavey Under Cover Boss - part 2 .

Well, I guess that does it for me as far a Peavey equipment is concerned. I really didn't the way Hartley came across, to me he seemed arrogant, elitist, and uncaring.

In fairness, the testing issues are probably industry-wide, it's all about production, quality went down the drain years ago. If you buy any product today and it works as expected, count yourself blessed.

That's why this country is headed down the pits.

All the above in my opinion, YMMV.

Looks like I'll be selling some gear now. I feel I, and all other Peavey customers, (not to mention their employees) have been betrayed these last years. I knew Hartley had a big ego, but this was disgusting. How does he sleep at night?

i know i'm going to sound like erv defending the emmons co, but i love my peavey amps and have always heard rave reviews about their customer service.
not to mention that they single handedly have been addressing and supporting steel players unlike any other company.
i can't help but put some blame on a government that won't enable good u.s. companies to compete in a global economy.

One of the first things I wondered was whether the customer service department has been/will be affected. I can attest that they do great work fast and inexpensively. (Maybe too inexpensively?)

So what else is new??? About 15 years ago I was derided on here for making a post about something a friend told me. Y'all remember when Peavey was running their Buy American... Buy Peavey ad campaign? A buddy who was working for a Peavey dealer was at the company H.Q. for a training seminar. The first day when they broke for lunch the people from the class came out of one door only to see Hartley Peavey come out another door and get into a MERCEDES ROADSTER!!! Yeah, BUY AMERICAN...SO I CAN DRIVE A EXPENSIVE GERMAN SPOTSCAR!!!

Peavey's S/S amps may not be my favourite amps tone-wise, but I have 9 of them in my garage and some are over 40 years old. I know that I can switch any of them on and they will work first time. Just think where the steel guitar world would have been all these years without Peavey. They have made pretty good quality steel guitar amps and speakers available to the masses at very affordable prices. They will not be the first USA company to outsource abroad and won't be the last.

I buy items that I have made in a Chinese factory, and while they represent incredible value for money, the biggest problem is that of consistency. Hartley Peavey may find that the ultra reliable Peavey amp may take a different direction if he outsources to China. Just sayin'.

Finally, re the German roadster reference. I have a Mercedes roadster, and will say this. If we could get American made cars with the steering wheel on the right (Ford Mustang apart), I would get myself a USA built Cadillac tomorrow.

I've owned a lot of Peavey products and still have a Nashville 112 and an XR600 PA amp.

The TV show was a PR nightmare for Peavey. Hartley Peavey came off as smug. The Los Angeles segment was a disaster. The Meridian production facilities and the people shed a poor light on Peavey management and "no raises". Giving the people the bonuses and talking the one into not quitting sounded like a positive direction, but alas at the end they were all gone (or going).

Much of Peavey's production has not been USA for quite a while so that is not something earth shattering. But, I guess they can remove the Made In USA tag on the Nashville 112 if they continue production of this amp.

Peavey is no different than most U.S. Companies. As long as they need you they will treat you like John Wayne. When they no longer need you they treat you like Beetle Bailey!

I specifically liked the part where they had less than a minute to put a power amp together and take it apart. The mole asked the worker (20) year veteran if they could do it and she said "NO". They made promises then didn't carry out, 8 years before a raise. Never been a fan, don't own, and won't either then the show, what a mistake for the co.
