I think I want a second guitar and since I have a Mullen RP I thought I would
go for something different like a Sho~bud. However there are so many models I
thought I'd ask for opinions on which would be the best all-round guitar.
There are, of course, Pros, Pro I, II, IIIs, LDGs, and others. I'm not opposed to a doubleneck either.
Whick one do ya'll like and why? I'd need at least 4 knees.
Thanks _________________ Jb in Ohio

I would just shy away from the Super Pro (pot metal) undercarriage because of part breakage. But even so, there are good replacements out of aluminum being made if you need them. I had Super Pro, and outside of knee lever brackets breaking, it was a fine guitar. I also had a Professional with racks and barrels. I loved it. Many think it is too noisy. Since I only care if the noise is a problem on stage, it doesn't affect me. I did replace the pickups in both. My friend just got his Professional back from James Morehead. He replaced the rack and barrel system with the two hole puller system. I helped my friend dial it in last week, but really didn't play it. My friend is tall and he had James make the guitar taller. He did a great job. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . My opinion is That the "The Professional" models and earlier (perm, fingertip) are the best sounding.
Jim Loessberg has an amazing sounding permanent. In fact, it might be the best sounding steel guitar I've heard. _________________ Emmons/Sho~Bud/Blanton, Fender/Peavey.

I bought my ShoBud after hearing Jim Loessberg....also what I consider to be the best Ive heard. His playing style worked very well with it...
Pay heed to prior threads on Shobuds...there are a lot of Shobuds that need investment...I would be hesitant to buy one unless I played it first. |

You might want to consider a Jackson. Same sound with better mechanics. |
I've heard that said. However I'll stay with my Bud _________________ The only thing better than doing what you love is having someone that loves you enough to let you do it.

You should check out the Show Pro. Great tone. Excellent craftsmanship and very beautiful to look at and they play very well. _________________ Show Pro #26 & #83,BJS bars,Stereo Steel,Tommy Huff cabs loaded with JBL D130's, Wampler pedals,NV112,NV400, Steelers Choice Seats |

Are you going to take it to gigs? If so, my preference is an early rount front Pro-II or Professional. If not gigging, then maybe an earlier model.
Jim Palenscar has a super beautiful round front Pro-II in his shop for sale right now. _________________ To write with a broken pencil is pointless. |

As John said....stay away from the pot metal Sho-Buds.
If possible go for those with "tear drop" levers and Gumby head stocks....you may like the bigger pedals on some too I still have my 1977 Pro-2 S-12..now converted to a uni. It's only double raise and single lower, but there is a double lower on one string adjusted underneath, that hardly needs touching. The pedals are pretty light too. and it's nice to have the "Vintage" Pedegree of a Sho-Bud in your arsenal

Couple of tunes on my website "is" that 'Bud ...home page and "Friends & Aquaintences" page too. |

John, you really should talk with John Billings, about that sweet little Shobud he's restoring...it would be perfect! _________________ “TONESNOB” |
