A couple of pre-Christmas quickies...

Two quick questions before I clean the chimney for Santa.
Note the changer on my Maverick project pic...the stop screws seem to just skim the top of the fingers, someone's put a variety of nuts and bits to ensure contact. Is it normal for the stops to sit so high?
Also the screw holes in the cabinet side. Was there something there that's been removed?
Thanks and have a good one all SGF members!

Hello I was wondering , it looks like 5 & 10 stops are the same , but 3 & 6 are different with just the one e change on the 4. And how does it play ? do you have any trouble staying in tune, those stops look very solid. How does it fire up? Not sure about the mounting holes.

I looked at two Mavs I have here, both raised neck, one is red like yours, and neither had the holes on the inside front apron, or anything mounted there. Maybe someone had a homebrew pedal stop bar installed.
The changer fingers do seem to be sitting lower (viewed upside down as in your photo) than those on mine. On mine the tuning screws hit the changer about 3/16" below the top of the finger. Also on mine the fingers hit the stop plate just below the round rod hook well, whereas on yours they hit higher up onto the "nose" of the finger. Looks as if someone has filed notches in the stop plate to make more travel for the fingers to compensate.
Looking at the changer right side up, does it appear to have been raised up from its original position?

Thanks guys for the replies...to be honest, I haven't played this guitar yet, it was in pretty bad shape with rusty strings etc when taken from the case. The case btw is in excellent condition!
I've been sneaking out to the shed for a few peeks over Christmas and will start renovations and repairs in the New Year.
So until then, all I can do is gather as much info on-line in preparation. Part of the work will involve fitting a single knee lever...that'll be fun (?)
Season's Greetings until then!

Hello Tony , there are lots of undercarriage pics on the forum , to check out for ideas. Work out what changes you want . Looks like you have a great project there to sink your teeth into. IMHO Iwould probably go for a standard 3 pedal , 3 knee co set up , if that is possible. it all depends what you want to play. And work back from there. Those stop nuts look to big from your pic , they need to pass each other without fouling. Good luck and happy new year.

Thanks for the double post Tony! (LOL)
As they say over here in Ireland...'To be sure, to be sure'
My dad was born in Sydney, my brother is somewhere over in Oz now. My surname is virtually unknown over here and in the UK, but all over the place where you are.
G'day and thanks for your input,
Tony
