Yea, probably not. I wonder what the pedals are for? Maybe similar to the 3 pedals on a piano.

There was a thread on this awhile back.IIRC Fo'Bro Alan Brookes did the explaining,which was something to the effect that on the 8 pedal harp each pedal tightened(or loosened,can't remember)each similarly-pitched group of strings a half-step,then another half-step.The mechanism was different than on a pedal steel and didn't lend itself to what we use pedals for.Maybe Alan or someone can put up a link to that thread.

No, they change the pitch, but in a latching manner, and you can't really squeeze the pedals. Except for jazz players and pushers of the envelope, letting a string ring as it changes has been thought poor form.
