check it out, never seen anything like it.
the guys says its all original,
I think the red toggles are a sign he
just might be mistaken.

looking at it again its like a SD-10 but the strung neck is on the players side, I guess the rest of the console is for cocktails or something, and the moulding on the necks look wierd.
this guy is funny though

So if you have never seen one like it how would you have any idea it was all original

Looks from where I sit,the al-mag frame from
a 1000 guitar where the outer neck has been
stripped. The volume and tone knobs look original,the tail plate looks original,but
I think a guy by the name of Rube modified this.
His last name is Goldberg.
Leo would turn over in his resting place should he see what abortions have been done to these so called modifications.  .
Thats the way it goes.

Yeah, it's not a Fender. The only 10 strings they ever made were the 800, 2000, and the ones which ShoBud made for them and they all had the same headstock with the chrome dish type thing with the tuning keys set it it. It does look like an old 1000 frame though.

Looks like a homemade oak body. I think that outer ledge is where the girls rest their elbows when they stare dreamily at you while you play - you know, like a piano bar.  |

I emailed him to suggest to him that this instrument (although interesting) was probably not made at the Fender factory and there are ethical concerns as to purporting the same. I told him to try to find a recognized Fender expert who agrees with him and would document this Franken-parts 'o-caster - which, of course, would be an obvious exercise in futility. This news was received somewhere between lukewarm and tepid.
There used to be alot of guys with ads like "1975 Pre-CBS Strat". This mentality is finally infecting the steel guitar community, unfortunately. Where there is $$$, there are frauds; an unfortunate fact that the most trusting among us will learn the hard way.

Let's assume, charitably, that the builder didn't begin by tearing apart a perfectly nice Fender 1000, but that he salvaged some parts from here and there....
Other than the waste of space where there coulda/shoulda been another neck, and the molding alongside the neck, it looks like a nice piece of homebrewing. I wonder what's underneath....
