U-12 Lock

Post by Del Rangel »

Is Sierra the only maker that offers a lock for a U-12? Can anyone tell me how a Sierra lock functions? Thanks

Williams Steel Guitars, too.
Basically, the lock-lever holds the 2 E's;
strings 4,8 to D#, so YOU don't have to keep that knee lever engaged.

It basically frees-up that knee used to go from E-D# and turns the steel from E9th to B6. Basically. Just like a C6th neck.

Chip Fossa's explanation is a good explanation.

Carter Steel Guitars offers a lock lever, as well. Please feel free to contact us directly by email or phone for further information.

Mullen also makes a lock. Basically it's just another pull that locks the E's.

To everyone, thanks much for the replies. I understand the funadamental functioning of the loc, but I guess my question should have been something along the lines if I could actually fabricate one for my new GFI U-12 Ultra. When I ordered it I was under the impression that I could get one, but things didn't turn out that way. Don't take this wrong as this is not a hit on Bill and Gene--but I should have spoken with them much
sooner than I did. The dealer was a bit unclear when I ordered the guitar. Go figure, a teacher who didn't do his homework. When I am ready next time, I won't make the same mistake however. And, thanks Mr. Fabian, I will get in touch with you within the month--after finals and grades are in. Please close this thread up.
