Does anyone know if any of the people who manufacture pedal steel guitars sell 1" or 2" pedal rod extentions that are better than the ones that can be gotten from George L's? I was told that those are actually circuit board stackers which were applied to the pedal rod application-I am looking for something better-I do have a set of larger 1" extenders that I got from Mike Cass many years ago-I believe that he got them from Mr Franklin-These are much better and I wonder if they can still be had?

Paul, I haven't seen the George L's. but what you are probably looking for are the stainless steel 10-32 male/female hex standoffs made from 3/8 hex. One end is tapped for 10-32 and the other has a 10-32 stub. McMaster-Carr, for one, has them in a variety of sizes. The circuit board standoffs are typically threaded on both ends, but otherwise it's the same thing.

You might try Bobbe's place I thought I saw them on his web site under accessories(I think)I have a pair from Frenchy in Albequerque that have lasted over twenty years. Might see him too!
It can sometimes be a pain to be in love with a steel and be 6'4". (believe me I know)

I have been trying for 30 days to get my psg "situated" because I, too, am tall. A local machine shop is helping me but it sure takes a lot of time.
IF ONLY I had thought to use the "Forum"!

Chas-3/8" is about right for the steel hex ones that I want to get-The "circuit board" (George L's) are 1/4" and appear to be aluminum-I should email bobbe to see which kind his are-Chas I am measuring the hex end from flat side to opposite flat-or do you measure from the opposite corners for the maximum width?

Paul, you should be able to buy these extenders at the local Home Depot or other well stocked hardware store. I have seen the 3/8 hex with threaded holes at both ends there. Also get some 10-32 set screws, use those in one end of the extender to attach the ball joint connector for the pedal.

Paul,
Are these for am Emmons? If so, I will machine you a new longer set of hexes. No sense using extenders. Just make a new set. I won't anodize them for you, so you will need to paint them yourself. I will number stamp them, though.
Are they for an old 10-32 Emmons or an 8-32 thinner rod newer Emmons?
I can't do it tonight because my little boy and I are watching the eclipse. I will make the spacers to go on the legs above the pedal rack too.
Also, one inch is arbitrary. Do you want them 1.25 inches longer? 7/8 longer? I can make any size you really want.

Bill M-perhaps I need to check around the hardware stores more-I have found the hex couplers at few places but none were the 10/32 thread Chris L-Once again your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated The guitar that I want to "jack up" is a Marlen-It uses the same pedal rod ends (ball joints) as most Sho-Buds (right angle) I have some of the Emmons ones on my '66 bolt on and my blue laquer wood neck-you can get 1" over standard ones from the factory but I believe that is the only other longer length size that they make-Have fun watching the eclipse tonight-We have cloudy skies so I guess it wont be viewable here-The last time I remember watching the full lunar eclipse we were night fishing at a lake near Dowagiac Michigan-caught some nice Bass that evening during the eclipse!
