I'm sure I've missed a few. Please feel free to add to the list -

Black "mica" guitars look the best.

Lacquer finished guitars look the best.

Push/Pull Emmons guitars sound the best.

An All-Pull guitar can sound just as good as a Push/Pull Emmons guitar.

The guitar should be tuned, using the "just intonation" method. If not, it will sound out-of-tune.

The guitar should be tuned, using the "equal temperment" method. If not, it will sound out of tune.

Single-coil pickups sound the best.

After-market humbuckers sound just as good as single-coil pickups.

Two 10-string necks, tuned to E9 and C6 is preferred.

One 12-string neck, tuned to a "Universal" tuning is preferred.

The best sound comes from using digital delay, digital reverb, and two amps.

The best sound comes from using one amp and its internal spring reverb.

Tube amps sound the best.

Solid state amps sound the best.

The best "mod" for a Peavey amp is the Lemay mod.

The Peavey "mod" is every bit as good as the Lemay "mod".

Stainless steel strings are the best.

Nickel strings are the best.

Chrome plated bars are the best.

Stainless steel bars are the best.

On the E9 pedals, the Emmons set-up is best.

On the E9 pedals, the Day set-up is best.

You just can't beat the sound of an old Emmons guitar.

You just can't beat the sound of an old Sho-Bud guitar.

 My Steels are Green and Blue. I use a plain sixth string on E9. I signing off now to go woodshed.

If you are playing inside, it usually doesn't make any difference about the eqiupment, because most places have terrible acoustics. And even if you are in a place with great acoustical properties, it won't make a difference if you don't control Mr. Bang and Mr. Thud (drums and bass). Either way, you just need equipment that can cut through the mud.

Now, outside that's a different story:
You can get better separation and really hear how your equipment sounds; unless, of course the drums are miked with four mikes powered through amps the size of apartment size refrigerators (not uncommon).
