for those of you wanting to use an IRC client like Mirc
use the following settings

server: us.chatnet.org

port: 6667
room: #Steelers_alley

chat clients available at i.e.http://www.mirc.com

Attention: for those of you who would like to use a chat programm instead of the webchat but are affraid that they won`t be able to set it up, please don`t hasitate to ask Marco for an pre configured Mirc6.01 which will get ya into steelers alley right away. (mirc is pc only, sorry no Mac`s)

Johan, I checked it out last night and it worked great! I was able to chat with several of you folks and the speed of the responces was instant.

I tried this chat room,must be idiot proof cause I was able to get in ha ha.I think this is a great way to pull the steel community closer together and in real time to boot. The only thing is that chatting across the world there is a time zone difference for those folks

I've temporarily added it as a link in the header bar of the Forum. It's in the top left corner of the page.

If it's a success, I'll redesign the header to include it permanently. I'm also considering a way to pass your username from the Forum as a parameter, to help with logging in.

Hey folks, the chat room is still up and running, but i think we need to figure out a way to get all people in together at the same time.

everybody has its own things to do like work and chores and so on.. therefore it might be usefull to pick a few times during the week that we`ll try to be in the chatroom..

one of my favorite times is saturdays at 5 PM EST during the chat session we look and listen to the "Opry Warm Up Show" webcast.
naturally after that we listen to the Opry.

an another time which could be considered is a time when everybody listens to the same program on i.e. Steelradio.com and chat about it..

during steelshows where one wouldnd`t be able to attend live (for me that are the most of em)

so i think we need to poll this "best time to.."

let me know what your "best time to chat" is.

i happen to pop in there often.
obviously the best time to meet some of you is when it's way past my bed time
there's a 6 to 10 hour time diff between the Us and Europa
nevertheless i have had the pleasure of communicatin'w: some nice folks ;
don't ferget to pop on in too once you have satisfied your Forum Jones
