I was given a tube fex that belonged to a friend that passed. I love it but it played perfect for a day and then it started flashing Caution low system battery, the next time i turned it on every red LED on it was flashing and it read "IN ERROR resetting". i know it has an internal battery but the question is .. is this probably the problem or has something major gone wrong ? thanks for help.

Sounds like it wants a battery.

First thing I would do, is open it up and check to see the battery
is leaking. If it is, remove it right away, and clean the PCB as it
can make it unrepairable in a very short time. Then either replace
the battery or install the mod kit that Ken Fox has available and
you won't need a battery anymore. It's an IC chip and a resistor,
and it's very easy to install. Very low price and it'll last forever.

Even with a low battery you should be able to reset it back to factory defaults. Cypress the down and right cursors and then switch it on. That should do it. If it works ok you may be ok with it. Check for battery leakage and then get my battery less mod kit

thanks for the help Ken, I tried to take it back to factory preset but it kept flashing the same "system error" screen, thats why I was wondering if the battery was actually the problem, someone told me that the factory presets would work fine even if the battery was bad, but the light would keep flashing until I replaced it. I did take off the top cover and everything looks clean with no sign of leakage. It has been unplugged for 2 days now while I was out of town, I am going out to see if it healed itself while I was gone ! Smile

Ken, I turned it back on and the screen is now so dim I can barely read it, I did take it back to factory presets but now there is no sound except on 1 program and it is very distorted, should I consider this now trot line weight ? or is it possible something minor or even maybe an idiot trying to use it ? Confused

Sometime the down and right cursors are dirty If it does not say Memory Initialized or something similar then it is not resetting. Exercising the switches can help clean the contacts.
