Topic: F#-G# change tuning |

| I need a tad bit of info here. I put the rod and nylon tuner on my Zum,and when I tune the open F# string,and then tune the G# raise with the nylon tuner,and release the knee lever, the F# comes back sharp. What do I need to do to correct this? Thanks in advance. |

| I dont have experience with Zum, however, with some all-pull guitars, if you dont have enough pedal travel/knee lever travel, overtightening the tuning nut causes the raise to be partially activated when the lever/pedal is released. SHould be some stop of sorts on the lever |

Kenny,
I agree that there probably is not enough total travel on that pull. You may have to increase this travel by whatever means your guitar permits. It is a long throw.
Also, it would be helpful to know which F# you are talking about. I assume you are speaking of the 1st string. Paul Franklin pulls both to a G#. So do some other players I have seen. I will be doing this shortly.

Carl's right -- the 7th is even longer throw than the 1st. I pull both F#s and the 2nd to E on one of my LKR's and had the same problem until I gave her a little slack. Make sure the pull starts just a HAIR AFTER the lever travel begins. Contrary to popular belief, all pull guitars do need slack -- just not near as much as a push-pull when a string is both raised and lowered.

| I might add that this is the first string, F# I'm pulling up to G#. The same lever also lowers the 6th string G# to F#. I put the rod through the middle hole in the changer when I put this change on the first string. I'm using a .013 on that 1st string.Any other input would be helpful. Thanks in advance. |

| A rule of thumb to remember Kenny- the longest throw will be achieved with the pull rod being in the changer hole closest to the changer axel(top of guitar) and the pull rod being in the hole in the bell crank farthest away from the cross shaft(bottom of guitar). |

Kenny,
Have you adjusted the stop on the lever to give a bit more throw? I think that's where your problem lies.

| Kenny: If you have all tension off the lever (read enough slack), Check the roller at the nut. Make sure it is cleaned and lubricated. sometimes something as simple as this will solve the problem. It did on mine. Hope this may help. |
