I found a 1981 Fender Twin 135 watt chassis with the push-pull switch on master volume control. I'm going to have the amp serviced and was wondering if this feature should be removed for optimum clean power and tone. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Marty

The 135 watt ultra-linear is as clean as they come. If you just leave the master volume on 10 and forget about it, you'd be as good as if you removed it. And you wouldn't have a hole in the front. My thought is it's not really worth disconnecting, I do not see you gaining anything by doing so.

Now the earlier 100 watt amps, removing the master volume actually helps. The circuitry is that much different than the 135 watt amps. Just my limited experience.
