Hey can anyone tell me what are the gauges
of the strings on a U12 steel guitar? I know
what strings they are but not there gauges.

Not etched in stone----I use a .012 on 3. I've seen .020w and .024w on 6. And .072 on 12.

054 and 068 on the bottom just don't work for me -- too floppy and limp feeling for my taste.
I use a 058 on 11 and 074 or 079 on the bottom (I think you'll find that Buddy Emmons does the same on the bottom of his C6). Much more solid sound to my ears.

Hello Larry, thanks for the response, so you find the lower strings floppy? do you get poor sound with them? I will try those gauges
out that you recommend for my lower strings, The one thing I don`t like is poor sound and floppy strings, especially on the lower strings. hey is anyone going to Michigan grand rapids steel show that Linard T Zinn is having? maybe I will see you there. Steveb.

We have Jagwire .060 and .072 in nickel wound. You can substitute if you want at no extra charge. Jagwires don't go any heavier than that, though.
