C6 Knee Lever change-up on Mullen-D10 - any tips

Hi,

Anybody ever change the knee lever setup on a Mullen?

I want to re-arrange my knee levers only for the C6 side of my guitar.

I can see where and probably how, but since I have never done it and probably don't have the tools I would love to have some tips.

If the length of the pull rods don't pear up with your new change, the rod will have to be cut and threaded. I'm not familiar with the tool names since my friend did this procedure for me but I think its called a die set. After the rod is cut, secure it in a clamp and put a drop of oil on the area to be threaded. You'll need to make sure the new thread is cut at the right diameter so the fine tuning piece fits properly.

I really need to know a bit more.

Can I use the pull rods already in place by just moving them to the strings I need them for if they will fit?

I understand that I may have to cut a few, or else I must order some to fit where a longer rod is needed, right?

These are probably self obviating questions, but this is my first time to mess with the changer, springs, rods, bellcranks, ets.

I just don't want to mess up my really fine guitar.

Using existing pull rods is OK but you will have to reposition the bell crank and line it up with the new string/change. This can be a challenge depending on how many rods and bell cranks that may be in the way of your new change.
You may want to cut and thread the rod your self unless you are confident in ordering the precise length or ask Del if all knee lever rods are all the same length given the location of the lever. I think they are. You should keep some extra full length rods anyway in case your copedent evolves to your taste and wants.

I think the only way you can cause a problem is using a bell crank that is being used for a change on string #2 and hook up the pull rod to sting #5. Kinda like eating kimchi with your toes!

I think I can get away with moving the rods around to suit the changes on the pulls. That should do it.

I will give Del & co. a call for some spare rods.
