Need some info from you builders out there.

1: On a solid wood D-10 body top (no veneer),is the step down milled from a solid or is the step up laminated? (one piece or two pieces)
2: What joint form is used to attach the aprons to the top?
Other than that it seems straight forward.
Thanks in advance.

Generally 2 pieces and the apron joint is usually a straight 90 degree glue joint- however-- Mark Giles is on the forum- he is the man~~~ ask him for more info~~

Recluse, The answer is no. The step down is not milled out. All manufacturers that I know of use two pieces of wood. Carter,Pedalmaster and GFI use 3/4" and 1/2" pieces glued together thus forming the step down. All other makers to my knowledge (which is limited) use two boards of the same thickness. This neccessitates using a rabbet joint in the center to form the step down. The aprons out butt jointed. This is sufficient if the joint is smooth and precisely cut, fresh glue is used, and sufficient clamping pressure is applied. Mark
