ER died late Saturday at the MASGA steel guitar jam in Kannapolis NC. The jam was over and he was helping to get everything together and ready to leave. He said he was feeling a little bad, someone ask if he was hurting, he replied no but shortly after he fell to the floor and never recovered. He was president of MASGA for several years and worked hard to keep it going well as it was. ER was a good friend, he and I met at a friends house on Monday prior to the jam on Saturday and played guitars from around 10 in the morning til 5 in the afternoon. The viewing is Tuesday August 26 from 6 to 8 at the Stanley Funeral home in Albemarle NC and the funeral is Wednesday August 27 at 2 PM, same location. Pray for comfort of the family at this time.

This breaks my heart, what a friend to all of us, and what a great guy. Glad I got to spend time with him Saturday, I will surely miss him and all of his kindness to me. God has another musician for his choir.

Seems like this can't be real! I was standing right beside ER for over an hour talking about ways we could improve our jams! ER was full of ideas and loved to hear the steel guitar. He was always just as nice as anybody could be. ER will surely be missed. We need to keep these jams going just like ER would want us to. We all will keep ER and his family in our thoughts and prayers. So sorry to hear this !!

I am still at a loss as to what to say. I was with E.R. when he took his last breath. What a sweet man who loved the steel guitar and our community. A great loss to all of us who knew and loved him. R.I.P. my friend.
