Death of Walter D. Roberts, Jr.

Post by Roy Murphy »

Walter D. Roberts, 82, of Minden, Louisiana passed away July 28, 2014. W. D was both a Steel Guitar player and dealer. W.D. had a music store, Robert's Musical Sales, on Main Street in downtown Minden for over 40 years. Many musicians would gather at the store to jam at anytime. His store was the only place in the area that you could actually see a steel guitar. He was active in both the local music circles as well as TSGA in it's earlier years. W. D. will surely be missed by all that knew him.

So sorry to hear about W.D. He was always a fun guy and we had some great jams at his store years back.

Sorry to hear this ,He was always nice and willing to help me. I enjoyed hearing him play at the Dixie Theater in Ruston Louisiana and in his store. I heard him play at the Dallas Steel Convention and he did a great job. He said that was about as nervous as he remembered being. My condolences to the family.

when I lived in Shreveport I always stopped in at his store when I was coming thru minden. it was either a pickin' goin on or somebody that used to play with somebody on the hayride and a whole slew of stories to go along with it.
w.d. always had a smile and took the time with a new customer or an old picker.

country jack....
