Pedal adjustment help please ?

ShoBud 70's model Pro II Custom E9th--
new kind of strings installed - when I tune the 6th string with pedal B down it then raises the open tuning (not enough slack someplace) I've tried loosening the allen screw where the rod goes through the bracket so there is slack there and the same thing happens all over again. that pedal also raises the 3rd string and it's fine. Should I loosen the pedal travel stop set screw to allow the pedal to travel more then loosen the collar on the third string and adjust if necessary ? The whole problem is based on the fact that when 6th string is tuned open the pedal won't raise it enough to tune pedal down without raising it open. Thanks for any help . Bill Myrick
If anyone would want, e-mail me and I'll call you at the time you say and discuss it over the phone. Thanks.<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Bill Myrick on 22 February 2003 at 05:28 PM.]</p></FONT>

Not sure which pulling train you have on that Sho-Bud, but it sounds like your old string set used a plain 6th string and your new set uses a wound one. If you want to stay with a wound string, you'll need to increase your pedal travel.

Bill: I bought a Super Pro off Ebay a few weeks ago and had the same problem. I was just before throwing it out the back door when the idea hit me that the string might be the wrong guage. Sure nuff, that was the problem. You might check that.--------Eddie

Problem solved !!! Thanks to Jim and thank you for responding too Eddie . I ordered some Jag Wire strings to try out and always before I was pulling a plain 6th string but the Jag's start at 6 with wound nickel. 8 and 10 were no problem but 6 sure took some longer pullin' and I had to back off the rod some on the 3rd string also. I think I am going to like the Jags just fine but it takes a little getting used to, they are very sensitive but they chime wonderfully !
Thanks again guys for the lesson - Image
