I am breaking a lot of strings lately. They are breaking pretty much right on or near the rollers of the bridge. I was advised when I first started playing to put a tiny drop of oil on the G" string to prevent possible breakages. I do this now to all the top strings. Could this be causing the strings to break somehow? It is the 3 and 4th strings that are breaking now and every 2 or 3 days this is happening. It's really frustrating. Anyone got any ideas on how to stop this?

You mean the rollers of the nut, or the changer fingers?
If you mean the changer fingers, the bridge end, you probably have a small rough spot, burr or groove where the string leaves the finger and heads towards the keyhead.
CAREFUL dressing with small fine files can smooth this out (but you don't want to change the curve of the finger, that will mess up how it plays).
To figure out whether this is your problem, loosen the string a bit and move it to one side or the other and see if it lasts any longer. Or use a strong magnifying glass or a good digital camera (in good strong light, putting a good quality phone just about an inch off the fingers and taking a picture will help)

I can't remember breaking a string in a year and i do a lot of playing and I dont change strings until they go dead.
What brand of strings do you use? You may have gotten a bad batch or they may be old. If any of what's posted above don't work, I'd try different strings.
