Hi Peter,
Welcome to the forum. Regarding tuning, your fourth string on the Steel it should match the first string on a six string guitar, the eighth string on the steel should match the fourth(D) string at the second fret. It is better to tune the open E`s of your steel with pedals A&B down. Eric Snowball of E.S.E. Music in Maidstone Kent used to import ZB guitars, he would know anybody over here who could rebuild your guitar for you. Hope this is of some help.

as for the leg tips... almost any , well in the US we call 'em 'hardware stores' (what do you call 'em over there? he asked ignorantly), will have "cane tips" in a blister pack 2 to a package...I think the right size is .5 inch... maybe 7/16"

putting the underside back together is a daunting task.

forumite B.Greg Jones is a valuable resource for information...

Hi Peter:

Welcome to the Forum and also to the wonderful world of ZB pedal steel guitars. Your steel sounds very fixable (is that a word?) and Greg Jones is definitely the person to speak with about all your parts needs. I have three ZBs and would be happy to help any way I can.

Also, I hope you have a chance to check out my ZB thread/topic in the Pedal Steel section for more info and contacts for ZB gutiars. Can I ask you to send me or post the serial number of your guitar? It's located on the underside of the changer end of the steel, stamped into the metal edge near the jack output. I'm compiling ZB info and would really appreciate it.

thanks

Peter, check out the Carter guitars website.
It has a rodding chart on it and this chart saved my life. Image
Good luck!
Check out the rest of the tips as well. I dont know if you can use this on a ZB, but it is a start.

Peter - you can get walking stick rubber ends from B&Q that will fit the legs of your ZB. Allan Thompson is right - if Eric Snowball can't do himself - he will know a man who will. Eric is probably the foremost expert on ZB's in Europe.
