I just received a BJS bar. What a great bar. I heard about these for years but didn't get a chance to try one until I was at Duanne Marrs shop in Nashville. Its real slick and quiet on the strings. Outstanding.

I highly recommend this bar to anyone who hasn't tried one. I think its improved my tone slightly also. I got the 7/8th.

I bought one some 15 yrs ago and it´s still like new. I guess one can call that quality, ´cause I´ve played a lot since then. (The bar is a lot better than me, actually!)

Besides the quality of the bar, you are dealing with a quality person also! Bill is a gem!

I want to get one of the BJS bars, but I want a 7/8" x 2&7/8" for Hawaiian 8-string, not the 3/4" bar.

Question:
Will he custom make the bar? If not, if I order the regular 7/8" ten string bar, can I get it cut down to 2&7/8"? Or, are the bars hardened after thay are made, making them then too difficult to machine?

Thanks, Rick<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Rick Collins on 15 January 2003 at 09:29 AM.]</p></FONT><FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Rick Collins on 15 January 2003 at 09:30 AM.]</p></FONT>

I heard about BJS bars years ago and said to myself "how much difference can a bar make?".
I feel so stupid now for not having gotten one sooner. Bobbe Seymour was the one who convinced me, and he was right. I am going to call Bill Stroud. This is one of those very pleasant surprises.

Kevin - I've spent my first 8 months of PSG study using the same bar I bought with my lap steel 2+ years ago. Needless to say, the bar they throw in for next to nothing when you buy an old beat up 6-string lap steel is not going to be anything to write home about...and after two years of abuse in the hands of a beginner, you can imagine its condition declined rapidly... I got a wild hair and thought "if I'm going to do this PSG thing, let's do it right!" so I did some research on this forum and BJS was the name that kept coming up. I've had my 7/8" 10-string bar for just over a week and WOW. Can't agree with you all more. The BJS makes a big difference.

Also being fairly new at PSG, it has been my experience that the BJS bar is far superior to others. Slick, smooth, quiet, and affordable.Great investment! Highly recommended on this forum by nearly all who use them. Try one. You won't be sorry. Image

I use a 15/16" BJS bar. Bought it 2 or 3 years ago. It's the best bar I've ever used. Handles great and gives a really good tone on my Emmons.

When you own a BJS, then you have one less thing to worry about, cause it is the best bar in existence today and for the past 15 years or so, and will be for many more years to come.

The BJS bar is the best bar I have ever owned and I've been playing steel 55 years. I would highly recomend it to anyone who is looking for a great tone on his steel. Buck Grantham
