I was wondering (after reading Jim's post "How Long") what learning materials are out there that will make it easier for a new steeler to learn to play properly...I am wondering what materials are readily available that will make life a little easier for us guys just starting out..I understand that a good instructor would be a plus, but sometimes there just isn't an instructor nearby...Please reccomend materials that can be bought today..I do realize that a lot of you guys have been playing for years, and some of the instruction materials are not availabe any more..Thanks, Jim

I have recently seen Winnie Winston and Ben Keith's book in a store (published by Oak). It is still a wonderful resource. And Scotty has a couple of books out that are published by Mel Bay. And if you do a search of the Buy-Sell you will find info about Neil Flanz's E9 course, which got a lot of people started. And many others have products that have been well-received. There are a lot of other great resources out there as well - check around on b0b's links. Resource-wise, there has never been a better time to learn pedal steel.
