I have a couple of 705 pups, what should I see when measuring these? I measure the red against the green/white wires and only get 10.7. Any help?

I think that's the proper reading. I'll look it up, but I think that combination is just one coil (if I had 705s in a guitar, I'd install a switch to run single coil at will: the 705 when SC has an excellent SC tone).
I'll post more soon _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Here's what I found:
Quote: |
All Pickups with White/Black/Red/Green/Blue Wires
White Wire -- Hot
Black/Blue Wires -- Ground
Red/Green Wires -- Twist together, insulate with shrink wrap or electrical tape for humbucking OR solder to either a push/pull or on/off switch for split coil. |
So if you have green and white together, you tied the wrong pair together, and you only have a single coil (but I think you could switch from front to rear but I doubt it would be cool).
Hook Black and Blue to the sleeve, and white to the tip for humbucker operation.
And if you're like me, add a SPST switch with red/green on one lug and the other lug going to the sleeve. That's optional, but if you like bark and twang, it's worth doing. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Just FWIW, I had an original 705 with 2 wires (no coil splitting options) that measured over 20K. |

Yeah, I think he added the extra wires early on (a good thing, too, IMO). 10.7K sounds right for one coil, and he's got all the wires. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Lane, I received them this way. So can you explain how I would go about getting both the humbucker and single coil sound", switched.
Thanks

Solder the following three wires to the ground/sleeve of the jack: black, blue and an extra wire.
Attach the other end of the extra wire to one lug of an spst switch.
Attach the white wire to the tip lug of the jack.
Attach the red and green wires to the other leg of the switch (when you close the switch, you short one coil to ground, when open, you get both).
Simple?
If it's a doubleneck, each neck will need its own switch. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
