In recent episodes of American Pickers, the background music has been filled with some "tasty" steel guitar!
Does anyone know who's the player? I do not know the answer, curious.

Most likely not a commissioned track for the show but rather a tune and/or clips leased from a licensed promotion company. The TV industry is shifting to leasing stock songs or clips through licensed brokers. It's unlikely (although possible) that a band was commissioned to play tracks just for this show.

This is where the industry is headed, if not already there with regard to Instrumental music and scene clips...I recently spoke with an add agency about this exact thing and I was told they lease clips for as little as $50 for a TV commercial that may run for a couple of months. If needed they renew the lease...

If I had to guess, it would be a session player such as Greg Lieze on the track...
