Hello all, I'm new here.

Just thought I would introduce myself on the board here. I'm still learning to play pedal steel. I have a MCI D10, think its whats being called an 8+7 (that being 8 pedals and 7 knee levers, correct me if I'm wrong). I usually play thru a Peavy Profex II and a Music Man tube amp.
I got this guitar from Ronnie Neighbors about 7 years ago before he moved over to his new location. He was my teacher while I lived in Arkadelphia attending college. I have been to about 3 of Ronnies conventions. I was stupid enough to turn down a Herbie Wallace clinic a few years ago in Hot Springs. I know, I know.
Anyway, I live in Mena, Arkansas (about 75 miles from Hot Springs). I have been playing with Jerry Long and Whatta Band for the last 5 years. I am sure I will be asking a lot of stupid questions in here so bear with me.
Thanks and have a great day!
John Jr

Hi John, Welcome to the forum. I tried to send you an email but the server rejected your email address. Is it correct? I wanted to ask you about a friend that used to live in your area. Good luck with your steel playing. It is a life long adventure and learning experience.

Hi, John ... this is kind of resurrecting an old thread from years ago, but I saw your reference to Whatta Band and couldn't help saying a quick hello here to you ... from one old Whatta Band veteran to another!
I was with Jerry Long and Whatta Band from early-mid 1986 until March of 1990 ... and even to this day, my most fond memories of any band I've ever worked with are my memories of Whatta Band.
I posted a few of our videos on YouTube if you'd like to hear what we sounded like in that particular "Whatta Band Era" and here's a link to one of them (from 1988) ...

Anyway, please feel free to contact me ... it's always a pleasure to meet and talk with a fellow "Whatta Band" veteran.

Welcome John! I lived in Arkadelphia in the early 70's while I was a VISTA Volunteer and ate at the Ouachita Baptist University Cafeteria for $2.00/night as well as being given a pass to use the gym at Henderson State on a daily basis. Between time at the Spillway and Lake DeGray (which was still filling at the time) I had the time of my life! Anything I can help you with please don't hesitate to ask. You'll find that the folks on the forum are a really great support group for those of us that share this affliction

Welcome John. You will meet some great people here that are more than willing to help for the asking.
I knew a John Titsworth in Texas that was a train dispatcher for the Southern Pacific Railroad and later the Union Pacific Railroad. Any kin?...jr
