All Plain Strings

I'm interested in a set of strings for my dobro but with all plain strings. No wound ones. Any chance I could find something like that? I just want to try it out.

I don't think you're gonna find an unwound string much bigger than 026. In most reso sets the four lowest strings are 026 or larger.

What is the objective? Why unwound strings?

You could possibly get music wire large enough to make your own set...but as Larry said, "Why bother". It <u>wouldn't</u> sound as good, it would play a lot "stiffer" on the low strings, and as the flexibility and string tensions would be higher on those big strings, read---unbalanced, you would stand a good chance damaging your Dobro (neck, nut, or cone). Bad idea, really.

Distinguish yourself by playing well, and not by just by "sounding different".

Speaking of plain strings, I know of one local lap steel player that uses the same guage plain strings for all of his unwound strings on a 6 string lap steel.
The guy has a slant-o-matic touch and sounds great!
