Has anyone been successful "modularizing" their Session 400 head from the cabinet, thereby having two lighter weight pieces? That amp is killing me... but I love it so.

Absolutely. The fiddle player and I built two different head cabinets for a couple of these heads. We put a Session 400 head and reverb pan into each. We just sketched out the dimensions needed and then started cutting on his table saw. Used simple butt joints. Bought some hardware over the internet. Nothing fancy. I didn't bother with tolex, just wood stain and varnish. Lots of folks say they look great.

Now each head is about 28 pounds and the combo cabinet with just a Blackwidow is about 39 pounds.

However, for my current stage set-up I'm using a Session 400 in it's normal configuration. Lots of little reasons that are not worth talking about here.

I ordered two Peavey handles from tubesandmore.com. Put one on each end on top with longer screws. The holes are already there. It is easier to pull if it has wheels. If not get the banjo player to carry one end You are welcome. Butch in NC
