I have not tried one, but the consensus on the forum is the Roland 80XL is a good little amp.

I may, in fact, be nuts. However, I am screwed onto the right bolt... Jesus!

I use my Cube 80X at church with a Line 6 POD HD for effects, even though the Cubes have very useable effects built in. I run out of the line out jack to a Countryman direct box then to the PA. Works well for me.

I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro.

Sounds like a job for a NV112 to me.

For a unit that will receive occasional use, my recommendation would be to check local ads for an early Peavey 'Bandit 65' or 'Special' series (model 120,130,etc.) amp. These can generally be found for under $100.00 in the want ads or on your local 'Craigslist'. Simply upgrading the stock speaker will make these units very viable for steel guitar use. I recently sold a 'Bandit 65' with a Black Widow 1201-8 speaker installed that on the clean setting IMO, definitely rivalled my Nashville 112 for overall tone (and for approximately 1/4 the price!)

The Cube 80XL amps are wonderful amps and they aren't too "spendy".
