Being a real part timer when it comes to steel guitar, without enough time to sit behind it and play, development comes slowly. However, I thought I´d share a sample of where I´m at after 2,5 years wrestling this instrument... Actually I´ve been struggling for almost three years, but this cut was made some 6 mths ago. It´s an original song by my band and it´s just a "garage recording". It´s nothing advanced, but... What do you think?

Seven, you are sounding really good and your band is very good also. I have have been playing only 3 years myself and now play about 8 songs on steel out of about 40, the rest on guitar. I find that playing the steel out with the band has helped me get over the jitters and is making me a better player,thank you for the post I'm impressed.

Clear,articulate playing,with great pitch and a good solid honky-tonk feel.A lot of things are getting done right!

I agree with Dave...also, you have already learned how to lay out and swap out backup with the guitar player and not walk on each other OR the Singer. A lot of players never seem to learn that aspect of playing. Keep doing what you're doing and you will be just fine.

Wow! Thanks a lot, fellas, for patting my back! It´s SO appreciated! The thing is that I don´t actually think of myself being able to play... (If you knew how much I hesitated to put that link up...)
I´m not ever good enough for my own ears. An audience of "average Joes" always say you´re good, but what do they actually know... (even though the most important thing is that the audience is happy with you ) But unless someone I musically respect (i.e. fellow pickers) say I´m doing ok, I´ll be having a hard time believing it...
With all these really nice words about my playing I can begin to believe I´ve learned Something over the past few years.

Now, do you have any suggestions for my improvement? Myself, I hear that I need to work on my timing. Do you have other areas where you feel I should put in some extra effort?

Sure, we sing the words in English over here! But also in Swedish of course...

My band does lots of American country covers from the 60's and 70's but we also write music ourselves. Always in English. How could we make the charts in the US if we wouldn't...? Haha!
