Cool, I think 2 and 4 would be the Guyatones because of the tone, if thats right I wouldn't know which was which. All the others I would just be guessing, can't wait to find out. Good idea Doug.

Wild guesses, but the second one sounds like your red guyatone. The fifth one seems to have the richest vibrato, maybe a heavier bar. If that's the pedal steel then I want one.

I wanna root out the Guyatones, how about # 5 for the double 8.

The '66 Emmons definitely sounds the best. Which one is it? Beats the #&$*@ outa me!
The Century-6 sounds real good too. It's black.

the only 2 guitars on the list i have owned are the Fender Dual and a 66 Emmons (now sold). cut #4 sounds very familiar to me, i would guess the Fender, but maybe its the Emmons - it had a very light airy sound that was wonderful

Doug:
I have a tin ear when it comes to recognizing the tones of different steels.
Very enjoyable tunes and playing.

On Friday I came home with tired ears and the last 4 sounded all the same to me.
Today there is a vast difference.
1 Valco
2 Guya S8
3 Fender
4 Emmons
5 Guya D8
6 Gibson

I have no idea which steel is which... all sound great to me. it's a testimony to "the tone is in the hands" theory. Doug your playing is amazing and you could make a wooden spoon with dental floss sound good!

I never would have guessed that #6 was the Emmons PSG.

those bolt-on emmons sound different than other PP (imo) - if i hadnt owned one i would never thought that was a PP, but i recognized the sound immediately.
the one i had was very light & airy sounding, very similar to Dougs. the sound fit very well into the mix of a band without being "in the way".
