GREAT stuff!

any other examples of JayDee's playing from this era?

the Tony Booth albums of course.
Byron Berline's Outrageous is a favorite of mine, but that was more like 1980.

That's the stuff I like Chris. Innocent and lighthearted.

I don't think that Jay Dee has ever been given the publicity, IMO, that he deserves. Lord knows how many singers he has played and recorded with and the great hits he has done; like Misty and many others. I've know him since the sixties and IMO he is one of the nicest and likable guys, musicians, I've met. And he ain't a bad mechanic either.

Hey Joachim,
I always enjoy the music you post.
How about this one:

I don't know who's playing steel but it sounds pretty good.

Ian, this is also Jaydee. The other steel player on the album is Red Rhodes, but it doesn't sound like him. I've always liked "Royal Flush", it also features a lot of Mexican trumpets.
There's Freeway too, but that was a little to mainstream for my tastes.

great stuff, gonna have to keep my eyes peeled for that record. Seems to have the qualities that made certain aspects of Southern California country-rock great: Being both kind of slick yet burned out at the same time.
