Once again for you players looking for great country (and more) music... Check out the players in town every week on Broadway and nearby clubs.
First place on the south side of Broad , we ran into Tommy White playing with Vince Marino . Tommy played a few warm-up passages (15 seconds) and played more steel than most of us ever know!
Across the street, Eddy Dunlap , tone , feel and knowledge of the instrument all in one!
3rd, a favorite of mine , Tommy Hannon . He also sings . His style is his own , playing the way only a real thinking musician would play.
Then on to the band at the Station Inn. A relatively unknown guy that has the worst looking right hand in steel guitar history,,,Doug Jernigan .. I heard him play things that I previously had known were imposible . The band there also had so many great players , Larry Cordle, Carl Jackson, Aubrey Haynie, Val Story (vocals)and the super piano of Catherine Marx... Sorry to say that I don't know the drummer and bassist.

Jerry,
Sorry I missed you, delivered a new old ZB to Tommy White (you can see it under "pedal Steel" on the forum) Thursday, we left Sunday, had I know you were going to be there Monday, we would have stayed over.

Yeah, that unknown Jernigan fellow will be good in a few years if he practices a lot. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . We always are hearing complaints about "no country music or steel guitar" concerning someones last visit to Nashville,,,so, I post this stuff so that you forum people can look up some of the best players that have , and are still out there !
And Billy ,,,well you sure did a great job on Tommy's ZB ... of course everybody knows that I'm a ZB freak , you get my attention . BTW, looks like you did some modern things that were not on the early ones . That sure makes the guitar totally playable , and certainly much more valuable . Now , if Macy will just get one ...whoops ! |

Jerry sorry I missed you Monday , I was in the same club listening to Eddie Dunlap and Mark Moree,( tele) I thought I saw you and when I went over to say hi you were gone ! I wasn't able to stay downtown long but should have ! I did see Tommy Hannon, he is a regular downtown, I didn't see Tommy W.. The following night I was downtown again for a short time and was able to catch and say hi to Chris Scruggs on stage with Hoot and Rachael Hester.
