Marian was one of my favorite interviews for my lap steel book. She was warm, witty and completely charming to speak with. She was completely gracious when I needed to re-do our interview because I'd been so captivated by our conversation I'd forgotten to turn on the recorder! Marian was fine steel player too. R.I. P. Dobro ace Mike Witcher started a "Mixed Tape" series on his website awhile back where he asks a steel/dobro/slide player he admires to put together a series of videos/recordings with comments of some of their favorite players, or musicians who have influenced them.

The latest installment is from Cindy Cashdollar, she picked Marian Hall as one of her favorites, and Marian is featured with Joe Maphis in Town Hall Boogie:

She was most awesome, but when she came here on the forum and made herself available for questions and such, nobody but a few of us even cared to say anything. She never came back and a year later was gone for good.

Real nice interview and overview! Also enjoyed Cindy's video favs. Marian never got her due and would have been completely overlooked if it wasn't for the great Ranch Party footage. Back in the day there were lots of great working musicians that flew under the radar.
