I just installed a seat of Telonics 12" speakers in my 1976 Music Man HD 212. They sound terrific, and the amp weighs 20 pounds less than it did before.

Yeah, there's a couple other Eminence made Neo speakers out there that steelers like as well, but I went with these and I'm glad I did!

I put one of the Telonics 4 ohm 12 inch speakers in my Nashville 112. I love it! It has a beautiful deep throaty voice and very nice upper end clarity.

Same here with my nash 112, tel 4ohm, just what this amp needed, great sound!! Mine has been in 9 mos now

Yup! Telonics 4 ohm neo 12 in my NV-400. Rick Johnson custom pine cab. Lightweight, solid state Nirvana!

I got the 8 ohm speakers. The amp has a 4/8 ohm switch, so I could have gone either way, but my amp tech (who also replaced all the tubes and caps,) told me to get the 8 Ohm ones.

I basically have a new amp in a 38 year old cabinet.

Where can we buy these? I need a 4 ohm 12"...

I surely agree with the Telonics "Wow" comment.

I teamed up a couple of the Telonics TSNEO 12-4
speakers with my Stereo Steel and could not be
happier !! I'm done looking for "the" sound.

I have Telonics in two different amps...you can't beat them!

I use 15" telonics for my fender bandmaster 66 mod. The sound is..wow.

I've been tempted to sell my NV112 because I've mostly given up on E9. I've happily found the guitar and tuning that suits me, and the stock Nashville doesn't lend itself to it. I'm using a Clinesmith D8/6 through a Wet Reverb and '59 Fender Bassman. I know tone is subjective, but after all the discussion about the Telonics swap, I'm wondering if I should give it a try before ditchin' the Nashville.

It would be an interesting experiment to put a Telonics speaker in a Quilter, and compare it with a stock one.

Perhaps a steel guitar dealer who handles both lines could set up a demonstration.

Yes Dave Zerbel, Jim Palenscar is the man to contact. Just brought a 12 in. 8 ohm from him and the service was out standing. A very nice gentleman to deal with. I have not had time to install it in my old Deluxe Reverb but have heard good things about how it sweetens the old tube amps. J.R.

Has anyone tried installing them in a 65 Fender RI for cutting down on the weight of this amp?

FYI, re Telonics speakers, I got this from Dave Beatty- the Telonics is definitely NOT a relabeled Eminence, that was just his starting platform for applying his research on what a brand-new JBL would sound like... from others' experience, the Telonics is not exactly a JBL - slightly less efficient and somewhat different sound - but it is likely as close as you can come without finding an actual JBL in perfect condition...

"The only thing that matters to the vast majority of players/users is the
sound. The 'only' reason we developed these two speakers was the fact that
after testing all the speakers which are currently available, we were unable
to locate a suitable replacement for the JBL K120-4 and K130-4, which we
found to be the unchallenged best musical instrument speaker ever built -
for a host of reasons. We also noticed that people were reconing old JBL K's
and then laboring under the mistaken assumption that they were "good as
new". Our testing of such units quickly showed that clearly, such was NOT
the case. We then undertook doing total from-the-ground-up rebuilds of the
JBL K's, including re-magging them. Only this approach actually restored
them to their original specification of some 50 years ago. Such rebuilds
were "magic", however the cost of a core plus rebuild comes up to $425 on
average, and, they still weigh too much for old geezers like myself. So
clearly, something had to be done. Hence the NEO development effort over
some 18 months of engineering work. We still keep around 25 of the rebuilt
JBL K's in the lab for our own use and for those Telonics customers who
either wish to carry them - no matter what, or for use in studios where they
are not moved around a great deal. Other than that, all our people use the
new Telonics NEO drivers.

The entire development effort was designed to make a modern, high quality
driver that replicated the performance of the JBL K series speakers, which
could be produced with 'consistent' characteristics, day in and day out -
over temperature and aging, and which would withstand "roadie abuse".
Our testing has demonstrated that the Telonics TSNEO-12-4 and TSNEO-15-4
speakers do, indeed measure up to our specifications and our needs.

I have to laugh when I see someone ask if our speakers are simply re-labeled
stock units from one manufacturer or another, nothing could be farther from
the truth. Believe me, if an existing speaker could have done what we
needed, we would have most certainly not spent the time and money to develop
these speakers.

George- I suspect that they way to really cut down on the weight of a Twin would be to talk Tim Marcus into making a version of the new Milkman Hybrid chassis that would mount in your Twin, and drive two Telonics speakers with it...feather-light and up to 400 watts (depending on speaker impedance chosen)...

Eminence makes both but to different specs.
TC Furlong's are made to their own specs as are the
EPS models........all different.

Would some of you please share your settings on your NV112 with the Telonics Neo 12-4 ? I installed one in my 112 and can't get it dialed in on the highs quite the way I want it. The lows and mids sound great.

Ronnald, here is mine with a Riitenberry guitar and 705 pup, my lows vary and shift a little closer to 800 some times

I'm playing my Show Pro with the BL710. I'm really liking this speaker.
Sounds very much like a JBL without the weight.

Anyone else care to share their settings.
