Awesome!! I have an 8 pad drum module that I play by hand when I don't want to "program" my drum tracks but I can't believe I've never thought to try this.

I finally got around to trying this. Holy Crap!! I'm selling my MIDI drum controller now.

I wanted to try a train style beat. I'm don't quite have the stick control I would like to make a real drum sound awesome but I can play with my fingers and hands just about anything I can hear.

Sitting at my desk, I put a Behringer B1 condenser mic in my lap, and recorded myself playing the train snare part ON MY DESK. I just banged away on my desk and recorded the wave file. In Sonar X3, all I had to do was drag that wav track onto a MIDI track and all the hits were converted to a snare track. Soungs great. All the 2s and 4s are loud and clear and all the ghost notes in between are exactly that.

The who process took about 4 minutes, including the time to play the track.

And this was just a trial run. I can't wait to try a full song arrangement.
