There's no way I could tell about the sick feeling that I got concerning the beautiful little town of Baxter Springs, KS. The tornado smitten community that was so pleasant to us visitors, and my, what a welcome we always received. Of course our visits to Baxter Spring was for the Steel Guitar Convention held there every October and Lee and Ray and the rest of the board and all those that made the convention a delightful experience. Our hearts bleed for your devastation. The property and land marks that characterize your town, I hope they are still untouched. Of course, to us, the Community Center and the motel we always stayed in, and the McDonalds close by, are the buildings we are most familiar with. I'm still unaware of what was destroyed or damaged, I can only imagine, and I'm not anxious to get the details! I hope your community can build back and be comforted. I believe with all my heart our heavenly Father will ease the heart pain and give you solace. We're looking forward to October and the next Route 66 Steel Guitar Show!!!

Jerry, thank you so much. We love you and Venda. We had about 80 to 90 homes and buildings destroyed. The community building and the motel are ok with no damages done. My oldest sons house was completely destroyed. It missed my house by about 5 blocks. Thank God that there were no deaths reported. Thanks to all for asking. We will survive!!!!!!!! Ray

Ray,
I am so sorry for you son's loss. Helen and I will be praying for you and your family as the rebuilding starts. We can be thankful that there were no lives lost. Having been raised in "tornado alley", I know the devastation these things cause.

Thinking and praying for all those who had losses.

Ray,talked to Fred earlier and he told me you and Lee were O.K.Reallly sorry to hear about your sons house .Our prayers will be with all of of Baxter Springs. With out a doubt one of the pertiest towns in tHe country. I believe Norman Rockwell got a lot of his ideas for his art work from this perfectly built town. Ray

I just got my internet on. I received no damage but my son was working at the grocery store when it was hit. No one was hurt just damaged vehicles. Thank you all for your prayers and concerns. Some rebuilding has already started and a lot of cleanup.
