I have 2, both MSA Millenniums. I bought the purple one brand new and found the white one on E-bay





I've never decorated a steel before, but I felt the white one needed it. Here is what it looks like now.



How many do you guys (and lady guys) have?

One. It's all I need.

I have 3 pedal steels: an S-8 for gigging, a D-10 for teaching and an S-12 for experimenting. They have totally different tunings from each other (which is why I have 3).

Also have 3 without pedals. Same idea - I only gig with one of them (the S-8).

I only have two...the Carter and Sho-bud universals. When I was younger the 'Bud seemed light..and over the years her diet has given her a bigger waist/line and she's put on weight I rarely gig now, just the few odd sessions, and take the "lighter" Carter out. Even then I take a split case for her

I have one, my 81 Franklin D-10.

My wife got a GFI Expo S-10 a couple of years ago and is working on that. I don't consider it "mine" so I only have one.

I have two. Both Universals. I alternate them about every month or every other month. One stays in the case ready for gigging the other stays home set up for practice.

All I got is one.

Quite a while back I decided the interest rates sucked for savings and time deposits, so I chose to invest in some steels. I now have 5....bought for low prices. They are part of my retirement savings strategy.

Sure, I can only play one at a time, but all 5 are different makes, so I have the joy of choosing which one to play on any given day. I feel very fortunate to have them.

I have three - my favourite, the black Emmons LG3 that I bought new in 2000, the Carter I've recently acquired (Tommy's old one!) and the Zum Encore.

The Encore gets a lot of use for rehearsals and casual gigs - you just can't beat its playability and light weight. On my Summer gig (fifteen weeks on the Medora Musical) I really need all three guitars: the Emmons set up on the main stage, the Carter (will be) for my nightly 'second job' playing at the BBQ gig we get to do before the evening show (in previous years I used my second Emmons - now sold) and the Zum, because of it's portability and ease-of-assembly, is for anything else that comes up. It lives in the car's boot along with an amp and a volume pedal; I never know when I may need it.

Three's enough for me, but six-stringers? That's a whole 'nuther story!

Two. A MSA D10 Classic, and a Williams S10

I don't know.

Four, which is three more than I need. And four more than motivated by my playing skills...

I have three set up and two under construction.
an msa classic ss red laquer, an msa vintage XL red laquer. An sd 10 performance red mica.

Mike, only one wife to speak of. LOL

A Zum D-10 is my only working pedal steel.
I have a S-12 MSA and a Sho-Bud SD-12 both under construction. I have a Lap-Strat (actually a Washburn Stratoclone with a nut extender) and an 8-string Dobro.

Since I have a phobia about selling anything, I have accumulated a few:

1954 Fender Stringmaster D-8, cream finish
196? Fender 400, 4 pedals, no levers, sunburst
196? Fender 400, ditto, but disassembled....
1976 Emmons S10, 4 pedals, 2 levers, black, Day setup
1977 Emmons D10, 8 pedals, 4 levers, red lacquer, standard Emmons setup.

One of these days I'm going to sell the 400s....

...and one of these days I'm going to have the S10 refurbished...

I traded my earliest Gibson sgl-six from 1948 for a triple-8 Fender during the early 1950's that I sold in order to help purchase my Bigsby.

Still remaining are my 1956 Quad BIGSBY, My 1972 Emmons Dbl-10 w/standard set-up; My Excel dbl-8 Jerry Byrd mdl; my Jerry Byrd single 8 w/three legs;
My Shot-Jackson JB mdl.Fry pan; an early Ric Fry pan;
A Trotmore sgl-8; 3 6-string Ric Bakelite pandas; six 6-string pre-war Ric Bakelites; three Ric prewar
7-stringers.

I don't think I have any more than that.

I currently have three:

MSA Classic S10 3x4 in lacquer, first guitar, bought it cheeeeep because it had serious cosmetic issues...mechanically like new...in storage awaiting the day I feel like building a new cabinet for it.

MSA Vintage XL S12 7x5 lacquer with E9/B6

1974 Sho-Bud Pro II D10 8x7

I need at least one more guitar so I can experiment with the E6/9/13 tunings.
